GILROY, CA — A Gilroy man was injured while setting off illegal fireworks on New Year’s Eve, The Gilroy Dispatch reports.

The man, who is in his 40s, was lighting an M-80 when he “damaged his hand significantly,” Gilroy Fire Chief Jim Wyatt told the news outlet.
