Gilroy National Night Out Slated For Tuesday
The annual event staged in cities across the nation was postponed from its usual Aug. 4 date because of the city's Garlic Festival shooting.

GILROY, CA — Albeit a little delayed, National Night Out hosted by the Gilroy Police Department will be staged Oct. 1 at 5:30 p.m.
Most U.S. communities scheduled this event intended to promote police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make cities safer and more caring places to live and work on Aug. 4. But with the Gilroy Garlic Festival mass shooting that claimed four lives including the gunman occurring less than a week before, emotions were raw.
They say good things happen to those who wait. Gilroy's event is billed as free, fun, and safe for everyone to enjoy. This year's festivities include:

National Night Out provides a great opportunity to spread useful information, recruit for a cause and raise money.

Anyone wanting to participate or donate to the event is asked to email nationalnightoutgilroy@gmail.com. Volunteers are needed to help set up, work a booth and clean up after the event. Questions will be fielded by Marisa at 408-465-6549.
