GILROY, CA — The city of Gilroy will reopen its basketball courts, softball and baseball fields and soccer fields this week.

In a news release on Wednesday, the city said it plans to have all fields open by Saturday. Santa Clara County moved into the red tier in the state's COVID-19 framework last week amid declining case rates and hospitalizations.

"The City of Gilroy is happy to be able to open up our sports fields to our community but urge participants in these outdoor activities to use good judgement and to follow all guidelines and core principles," city officials said in a news release.
