Gilroy Shooting Victim Dies, Case Reclassified As Homicide: Cops

Victim identified as Robert Marks, 21 of Gilroy, according to police.

GILROY — One of the two victims of a shooting earlier this week in Gilroy has died and the case has now been reclassified as a homicide, police said.

The victim was identified as Robert Marks, 21 of Gilroy, police said.

The incident follows a string of three shootings earlier this month that left one dead.

Marks died from injuries suffered in a Jan. 2 shooting at around 9 p.m. in the area Santa Teresa Boulevard and Mantelli Drive.

Several callers reported hearing gunshots in the same area.

Officers arriving on the scent found evidence of a shooting in the area, but nobody involved in the shooting was located according to police.

Shortly afterward, two men arrived the emergency room of a local hospital with gunshot wounds, police said.

One of the victims was taken to a trauma center with life-threatening injuries, police said. The other victim was expected to survive.
