There are some easily identified symptoms that separate the two.

Heat Exhaustion:

  • Faint or Dizzy
  • Excessive sweating
  • Cool, pale, clammy skin
  • Rapid, weak pulse
  • Muscle cramps

Heat Stroke:

  • Throbbing headache
  • No sweating
  • Body temperature above 103 degrees; red, hot, dry skin
  • Rapid, strong pulse
  • May lose consciousness

If you are experiencing heat stroke, you need to call 9-1-1 immediately.

On the other hand. if heat exhaustion has gotten the best of you, some shade, cool water and a cool washcloth will probably do.

The US National Weather Service San Francisco Bay Area/Monterey California says this warm weather is expected across our region through the remainder of the week.

Even hotter temperatures can be expected for travelers heading down to Southern California or Southern Nevada.
