UPDATED: Major Gas Leak Being Investigated in Morgan Hill
PG&E officials said a crew is working this afternoon to shut off the gas where a leak occurred adjacent to a Morgan Hill hotel.

UPDATE 1:30PM-
PG&E officials have capped a gas leak that forced the evacuation of a Morgan Hill hotel this afternoon, utility officials said.
The leak was first reported at 11:13 a.m. adjacent to the Holiday Inn Express & Suites at 17035 Condit Road.

About 100 people were evacuated or asked to shelter in place at the hotel and two neighboring businesses, Cal Fire Division Chief Jim Crawford said.
The Holiday Inn Express is downwind of the leak, Crawford said.

PG&E officials said a contractor ruptured a one-inch plastic gas line. The leak was capped at 12:23 p.m. with no injuries and no loss of gas service for residents in the area.
Crews remained in the area this afternoon repairing the ruptured pipe.
PG&E encourages people and workers to call 811 before digging to reduce the chance of rupturing a gas line.

UPDATE: The gas leak is adjacent to the Holiday Inn Express, not at the hotel. Cal Fire officials said a Holiday Inn Express has been evacuated this morning in Morgan Hill because of a gas leak nearby.
The leak was first reported at 11:13 a.m. adjacent to the Holiday Inn Express at 17035 Condit Road. The hotel is downwind from the leak, Cal Fire Division Chief Jim Crawford said. PG&E crews are on the scene working to stop the leak, Crawford said.
