One Of Two Amtrak Train Fatal Victims Identified
The two people were struck on the tracks at an unspecified place in Gilroy on Thursday, according to Amtrak
GILROY, CA -- One of the two people hit and killed by an Amtrak train in Gilroy Thursday has been identified as 52-year-old Cayetano Cruz Guzman, according to the Santa Clara County medical examiner's office.
The two individuals were trespassing on the tracks, and were hit by a Coast Starlight train at about 7:25 p.m., according to Amtrak. The train was traveling from Los Angeles to Seattle. None of the 86 passengers or crew members were injured, and the train was stopped for about five hours. The exact location of the collision was not specified by Amtrak.
Amtrak and Gilroy police are investigating the deaths. The medical examiner's office will release the name of the second victim once their family is notified.
