Police Blotter: Car Burglars Steal Laptops, Cash, Purses

Also, a forgetful hotel patron left his gun behind when he checked out. Police took possession of the weapon.

Wednesday, Aug. 21
Reckless Driving: A motorist was arrested for reckless driving on Bay Tree Drive around 12:30 a.m. A passenger in the car was booked for being on drugs.

Car Break-in: A vehicle was burglarized on Stoney Court and a car stereo was stolen.

Burglary: A thief broke into a locked laundry room on Forest Street and stole all of the quarters from a coin box on the washing machine. About $160 was taken.

Car Burglary: A vehicle was broken into on Arroyo Circle, stealing two purses, a duffle bag, a backpack, clothing and an Apple MacBook Pro laptop. It was reported at 2:15 p.m.

Car Burglary: It was reported on Arroyo Circle at 3:20 p.m. Taken were four laptops, an iPad and $600 cash.

Car Burglary: About $3,000 in special tools for working on clocks were stolen from a van on Monterey Street. It was reported around 5:40 p.m.

Tuesday, Aug. 20
Hit and Run: A 20-year-old man fled a traffic collision that injured another person on Church Street around 12:05 a.m. He was later arrested.

Drugs: A 27-year-old man tried to pass a forged prescription at Walmart. He was later caught with four Clonazepam, a narcotic, and taken to jail.

Monday, Aug. 19
Animal Bite: It was reported on Farrell Avenue around 10:15 a.m. 

Dog Bite: A dog bite was reported on Dearborn Place at 1:35 p.m.

Theft: A man reported his ID card and Social Security Card were stolen while he was sleeping. 

Found Property: A man left his Rugger P-89 pistol behind in a hotel room on Leavesley Road in the afternoon. The gun and its 15-round magazine were put into police evidence for safekeeping. 

Shots Fired: A gunman fired a weapon into the ground after a physical altercation on Miller Avenue around 5:10 p.m.

Counterfeit Money: A man and woman were passing fake $100 bills at Walmart on Camino Arroyo around 7 p.m. The woman was able to load $400 onto a "Money Pak" card before the cashier discovered the scam. 

Drug Possession: A 23-year-old woman was arrested for having drugs during a car stop on Monterey Street and West Tenth Street around 11 p.m.
