Power Restored In Gilroy After Outage Affected Thousands

The outage Tuesday afternoon was caused by a power line getting struck at the south end of Gilroy, police said.

GILROY, CA — Power has been restored to a "large portion" of Gilroy residents after an outage Tuesday afternoon.

The outage was reported before 1 p.m., and PG&E's company's outage map indicated that over 5,700 residents were without power. According to the Gilroy Police Department, the outage took out signal lights and the emergency communications center.

Power was restored before 3:30 p.m. Police believe it was caused by a power line getting struck at the south end of the city. There were no reported injuries.

The outage map indicated that areas south of First Street to Gavilan College were affected.
