Just north of Gilroy, Robin Vasquez and her husband, Richard, are raising more than 100 alpacas on the R & R Ranch. Industry experts say that the soft fleece from the alpaca is superior to sheep's wool in every way but popularity, and that may soon change with the growing number of converts.
