Reminder To Parents On New Car Seat Law That Clicks In Jan. 1
The provision is for children under 2 years old.

BAY AREA, CA – A reminder to parents on car seat laws in California:
Effective Jan. 1, 2017, children under 2 years of age shall ride in a rear-facing car seat unless the child weighs 40 or more pounds OR is 40 or more inches tall.
The child shall be secured in a manner that complies with the height and weight limits specified by the manufacturer of the car seat.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, child safety seats can reduce fatal injury by up to 71 percent for infants and 54 percent for toddlers (ages 1-4).
