Santa Clara County Library District To Expand Access, Hours

Patrons will be able to browse the full library collection and have access to computer and printing services.

SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CA — The Santa Clara County Library District plans to expand building access beginning April 19, allowing 50 percent occupancy in accordance with the county being in the orange tier of the state’s COVID-19 blueprint.

Last month, the library district reopened lobby service. According to a news release, patrons will be able to browse the full library collection and have access to computer and printing services later this month at the Cupertino, Gilroy, Los Altos, Milpitas, Morgan Hill and Saratoga libraries from Monday through Saturday.

“This is wonderful news for Santa Clara County Library District patrons!” said Mike Wasserman, President of the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors and Chair of the Library Joint Powers Authority Board. “It’s encouraging to see more businesses, schools and our libraries able to welcome residents back.”

The district also announced that hours would be expanded, but library events would remain virtual. Visitors are asked to stay no longer than an hour and are encouraged to use self-service machines to check out items. Curbside service is still available, so patrons don’t have to enter the building to collect their items.
