South Bay Rep. Lofgren Publishes Lengthy GOP Social Media Review
The review documents social media posts made by members of the House leading up to and after the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol.

SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CA — Rep. Zoe Lofgren, who represents Gilroy, Morgan Hill and most of San Jose in the House of Representatives, published a lengthy social media review of her Republican colleagues who voted to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election.
The review, quietly released on her office’s website on Thursday evening, documented social media posts made by members of the House leading up to and after the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol, when rioters stormed the building and interrupted the certification of the election results.
Lofgren, a Democrat in her 14th term, wrote in a foreword to the report that former President Donald Trump's actions had “incited and encouraged” the rioters, and she asked her staff to compile the social media posts to determine if members of the House had “made similar public statements in the weeks and months before the January 6th attack.” Trump was impeached by the House for the second time following the insurrection, but was acquitted in the Senate.

Lofgren also discussed the 14th Amendment, which bars those who “have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof” from holding state or federal office, as well as the possibility of Congress punishing its members for “disorderly behavior” under Article I of the Constitution.
“Statements which are readily available in the public arena may be part of any consideration of Congress’ constitutional prerogatives and responsibilities,” Lofgren wrote.
