Two South Bay Woman Die In Separate Collisions Near Gilroy
The incidents occurred on Saturday, according to the California Highway Patrol.

GILROY, CA — Two San Jose women died in separate crashes Saturday morning north of Gilroy, according to the California Highway Patrol.
One died in a single-vehicle crash and the other was on her bicycle when she was struck from behind by a motorcycle. The CHP has not yet released the name of either victim.

The first crash occurred at about 1:15 a.m. on U.S. Highway 101 north of Leavesley Road.
A 27-year-old woman was driving north in a 1996 Toyota Avalon when the car travelled off the east edge of the road and overturned multiple times.

The CHP said the woman was not wearing a seatbelt and that they do not know if alcohol or drugs contributed to the collision.
The CHP urges anyone with any information regarding this collision to contact Officer J. Christiansen, ID 21811, or Officer A. Uribe, ID 21612, at the CHP Hollister-Gilroy area office at (408) 848-2324.
Less than seven hours later, a 51-year-old woman was riding a Schwinn bicycle on Hale Avenue near Blossom Court just north of Morgan Hill, when she was struck from behind by a motorcyclist.
The CHP said a 26-year-old Morgan Hill man was riding his Honda motorcycle south on Hale Avenue at about 7:40 a.m. when he drifted off the western edge of the road onto the asphalt shoulder and struck the woman riding the bike.
The CHP said the motorcyclist, who was uninjured, stopped and called 911 and that others passing by stopped to help until emergency services arrived.
The CHP said drugs or alcohol do not appear to be a factor in this collision.
