CSBA to Host Workshop on New Public School Funding System

As California switches to a new system of funding K-12 public education known as the Local Control Funding Formula, or LCFF, the California School Board Association is hosting a workshop at Royal Oak Middle School Tuesday to answer questions on LCFF and its impact on local schools.

 A result of Gov. Jerry Brown’s 2013-2014 budget, LCFF promises to overhaul the way the state used to finance California public schools. With school districts suffering through years of state budget cuts, LCFF aims to allow school districts to determine how they want to spend their funding to better meet the needs of their students.

CSBA’s workshop 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15 at the HK Baird Theater at Royal Oak Middle School, 303 Glendora Ave., Covina, will answer questions about the LCFF, how it is allocated and what the Local Control and Accountability Plan is about.
