Deputies Seize Drugs, Guns in Temple City, Covina Pot Bust

L.A. County's Asian Gang Team arrested seven people in a drug raid that covered four locations in Temple City, Valinda and Covina Wednesday.

Seven people were arrested on drug charges by the sheriff's Asian Gang Team and more than 200 marijuana plants were seized at a home in Temple City, authorities said today.

The raid at the home in the 4800 block of Glickman Avenue occurred Tuesday at 2 p.m. Four suspects were arrested and today, three more were taken into custody, said Sgt. Steve Kim of the Asian Gang Unit.

Warrants were served at four locations, including a residence in the 16900 block of Pocono Street in Valinda and the 100 block of Arbor Court in Covina, Kim said.

Two assault weapons and a handgun were seized at the Covina location, Kim said.

The suspects are believed to be associated with the "Red Door" gang.

All but one of the suspects are Chinese nationals. The other is a naturalized US citizen, Kim said.

The suspects were held on $50,000 bail each and an eighth suspect is still being sought.

The suspects were identified as Guan Yi Mei, 29 of Los Angeles, Ting Mo, 22 of Temple City, Zhen Wei Huang, 29 of Rowland Heights, Man Lai Chon, 31 of Valinda, Hai Qian Zhang, 24 of Los Angeles, Le Sheng Zou, 20 of Los Angeles and Rueng Jian Chen, 28 of Duarte.

The investigation lasted for about two months before the raids Tuesday and today, Kim said.
