Glendora Armed Jewelry Store Heist, 1 Shot, 1 Arrest, 1 At Large

After an armed takeover at a Jewelry store in Glendora, Friday, one suspect was arrested, one shot. Another suspect remained at large.

GLENDORA, CA —Glendora Police confirmed that one person was wounded in an officer-involved shooting incident, Friday. One suspect in the shooting incident remained at large as of Friday afternoon.

The man being sought is black, thin, with hair in short dreads and shaved on the sides. He was last seen wearing a black hoodie or white shirt, and blue jeans. If seen, do not approach the suspect, but call 911.

On Friday afternoon, a jewelry store on the 700 block of West Route 66 was taken over by two armed men. Police responded and found a woman waiting outside in a car. She was arrested, officers say, and her name has yet to be released as of this report.

Two suspects escaped, both armed with handguns according to Cpl. Zach Houser of the Glendora Police Department.

Police searched the area and found one suspect in the area of Forestdale Avenue and Route 66. Police fired upon the suspect, and he was taken to the hospital by paramedics in unknown condition, Houser said.

Police continued to search the area for the at-large suspect.

As of Friday at 4 p.m., the area remained an active crime scene, and everyone was advised to stay clear.

The iconic Route 66 was closed from Barranca to Grand during the investigation.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department and the LA County District Attorney's Office will investigate the officer-involved shooting as per protocol, Houser said.

Both Stanton Elementary School and Foothill Christian School were locked down as a precaution during the incident. All students were taken to a safe area at Citrus College for pickup, the Glendora Unified School District said.
