Museum of Ice Cream 'Pop Up' with Ice Cream-Themed Exhibits Set For LA
Do you scream for ice cream? Don't delay -- tickets expected to sell out fast. (BREAKING)

LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CA – In what is probably best described as a real-life re-imagining of Willy Wonka's chocolate factory, the downtown Los Angeles Arts District will be getting a Museum of Ice Cream for one month, beginning April 22.
Operators announced Tuesday the Los Angeles pop-up location will be four times larger than the wildly popular New York installation, which sold an estimated 30,000 tickets in a matter of days, leading to a customer wait-list of more than 200,000 people hoping to explore the ice-cream-themed exhibits.
The New York installation featured ice-cream-inspired artworks, including a wall of waffle cones and -- the highlight of the exhibit -- a swimming pool filled with 100 million colorful "sprinkles."

The Los Angeles location is also expected to include a mock banana split with 10,000 "bananas," along with a "melted Popsicle jungle" and a mint "grow house."
Of course, ice cream will also be available at the museum, featuring rotating offerings from creameries such as McConnell's, Salt & Straw, Coolhaus x Cuisinart and CREAM. Visitors will also be able to compete for prizes in the rainbow sherbert room and purchase ice-cream inspired gifts, such as custom sprinkles, ice-cream scoopers and even a ping pong table.

Tickets will go on sale Thursday for American Express Platinum Card holders, and Friday for other American Express card holders. The general public can purchase tickets starting 9 a.m. Monday at www.museumoficecream.com.
