She Posed As Student, Sent Threats To Catholic School: LADA
A preliminary hearing was scheduled for a woman accused of sending "several alarming letters" containing powder to St. Lucy's in Glendora.

GLENDORA, CA - A 39-year-old woman accused of posing as a teenager and sending threatening letters to a Catholic school in Glendora is facing felony charges, the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office announced Wednesday.
Magaly Esmeralda Alvarenga allegedly sent several alarming letters to St. Lucy's Catholic School between last December and this month that were signed with the initials of a student. She allegedly sent two more letters that allegedly contained white powder and drugs on May 10 and May 23, according to prosecutors.
Alvarenga was arrested last Thursday by Glendora police and remains behind bars in lieu of $700,000 bail.

She pleaded not guilty Tuesday to three counts each of making criminal threats and false personation and two counts of attempted false imprisonment by violence by fraud, and is due back in a West Covina courtroom June 8 for a hearing to determine if there is enough evidence to proceed to trial.
If convicted as charged, she could face up to seven years in state prison.
