VIDEO Of 2 Rescued After Plane Crashes In Ocean Off Half Moon Bay
The two individuals were found in the water clinging to debris, officials said.
HALF MOON BAY, CA — Two people escaped injury Tuesday evening in a plane crash into the ocean south of Half Moon Bay, according to the Federal Aviation Administration and the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office.
A single-engine Beechcraft Bonanza crashed at about 5:50 p.m. about nine miles south and five miles west of Pillar Point Harbor.

Before the crash, the Beechcraft and another plane were flying together. The Beechcraft went down and the crew of the other plane called air traffic controllers who relayed the information to the U.S. Coast Guard, according to Coast Guard officials.

The other plane's crew circled the victims so they could be located, Coast Guard Lt. j.g. Chris Greenwood said.
A Coast Guard helicopter, cutter and small boat were sent to the area. Other resources such as a boat from Pillar Point Harbor also responded.

The victims of the crash were found in the water clinging to debris and without life jackets, Greenwood said.
The helicopter crew hoisted the pair from the water and flew them to Coast Guard Air Station San Francisco. There, they were seen by fire department personnel from San Francisco International Airport.
The plane sank, according to the FAA. The plane was registered to Lesh Air with an address in Denver, Colorado.
The cause of the crash will be investigated by the FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board, which will lead the investigation.
