Starting December 14, the following road closures will be in place:

  1. Closure of the left turn from southbound Highway 1 onto South Main Street;
  2. Closure of the right turn onto northbound Highway 1 from South Main Street; and
  3. Closure of the right turn from northbound Highway 1 onto South Main Street.

Motorists are advised to avoid traveling in this area during construction, if possible. Detour signs will direct traffic to Seymour Street. Poplar Street will also be available as an alternate route. Higgins Canyon Road will remain open at South Main Street; however, please be observant of work crews, signage, and other traffic controls.

Phase II of the closure will be implemented in late December. At that time, all northbound traffic on Highway 1 will be limited to a single northbound lane, leaving the most easterly northbound lane for bicyclists only.

We anticipate all closures and related detours to be in place for the approximately three months. The City will provide additional updates as the project moves forward.

We ask that each of you do your part to make travel in this area as safely as possible—please slow down, follow traffic signs, and be considerate of bicyclists and construction workers.
