With the arrival of COVID-19, you’re may not driving as much as usual, but you probably are to some extent, or will be soon. Keeping your car free of the virus is equally important as any other surfaces you come in contact with. Be sure to first clean your hands thoroughly before entering your car.

Let’s review some basics. First, plastic, hard surfaces. These can be cleaned with the same isopropyl alcohol-based cleaners you already use around the house on your hard surfaces. Try to use solutions that contain at least 70 percent alcohol. Be sure to clean the steering wheel, knobs, handles, buttons, screens, levers, anything you touch, including your keys and key fobs. I recommend that you only use manufacturer approved cleaner on touch screens. When using any cleaners, always check the label for proper surfaces and appropriate uses. Soap and water can also be effective, if you don’t have cleaners. Use all cleaners gently to avoid damage. Do not use bleach, or hydrogen peroxide, as these can damage surfaces.

For cloth, check your products for compatibility. Use soap and water sparingly, as it can cause a musty smell and mildew. For leather, wipe GENTLY with a microfiber cloth, as you can wipe off the dye if you rub too vigorously.

Many car dealerships are currently taking steps to protect customers and workers when servicing your car. Don’t delay necessary service out of fear. If unsure, ask your service provider for complete information.

I have worked with cars in one capacity, or another, most of my life. I have 2 cars I have restored, and show at car shows, as well as a few more I drive more regularly. I do my best to keep up with the latest in technology and all that is involved with the auto industry. I attend auto trade shows, read the latest information available, as well as attend car shows and host my own show. For more information on my show and to see more pics of my Milano Maroon 1965 Corvette and my Gun Metal Grey 1967 El Camino SS, as well as the many cars that attend, check out my Facebook Page…
