'Deadly Assault' With Tree Branch Logged In Half Moon Bay
The victim was attacked and injured with the tree limb by an acquaintance, who subsequently was arrested, officials said.

HALF MOON BAY, CA — A 30-year-old man, listed on records as a transient, was arrested Sunday in Half Moon Bay on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon after allegedy attacking an acquaintance with a three-foot tree branch, according to authorities.
Law enforcement was called to the incident at 1:16 p.m. on the 500 block of Kelly Avenue, where the suspect, identified as Cristian Jonathan Becerraperez, reportedly at about 11 a.m. assaulted the male victim, striking him several times by the branch and causing minor injuries to his head and arm, the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office said.
"The suspect and the victim were acquaintances, and this incident was the result of an ongoing disturbance between the two parties that escalated to physical violence," the agency said.

Becerraperez was not at the scene when deputies first arrived, but soon after was located, along with the weapon, and arrested, deputies said. He was booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, officials said.
