Half Moon Bay Stabbing Under Investigation

Sheriff's officials say the victim was stabbed in both his torso and legs in the attack.

HALF MOON BAY, CA — San Mateo County sheriff's officials are looking for a man who stabbed someone multiple times in Half Moon Bay over the weekend, the agency reports. The incident happened just after midnight Saturday in the area of Wave Avenue.

After someone heard the male victim calling for help, the sheriff's department responded to the scene, according to sheriff's Det. Rosemerry Blankswade.

"When deputies arrived, they found the adult male victim who had multiple stab wounds and cuts to his legs and torso," she said in a news release. "The victim reported that he got into an altercation with an unknown suspect...nea rthe western end of Wave Avenue, by the beach or a field, in Half Moon Bay. During the altercation, the suspect stabbed the victim with a knife."

Sheriff's officials searched the area for the assailant, described as a bald, clean-shaven man between 35 and 40 years old, weighing about 200 pounds. However, no one was found.

The victim was hospitalized but is expected to recover, Blankswade said.
