Let's Talk Cars - Made in America
Automotive Industry News: Cars, Trucks, Motorcycles, Scooters, Anything With Wheels

SEMA, https://www.sema.org/, is THE show of shows, in the automotive industry. With 71,000 buyers, 3,300 media and 2,400 exhibitors, it is unparalleled. For me, it's like being the proverbial kid in a candy store, with everything automotive A-Z, and then some. In November of 2019, I attended the SEMA Show in Las Vegas, Nevada. I will continue a series of articles with information from that Show.

Made in America certainly does not mean anything remotely similar to what it was not that many years ago. With the globalization of business, many products have some percentage of import parts included. In the automobile industry, this is certainly the case, possibly much more than most industries. It has been a number of years since an American car was “the most American,” as in had the most American parts of any manufacturer. That distinction goes quite often to imports.
At the 2019 Specialty Equipment Market Association(SEMA…https://www.sema.org/about-sema) convention in Las Vegas, Nevada, I had the opportunity to speak with a representative of WeatherTech Direct LLC, to learn a little about their company.

Located in Bolingbrook, Ill. they are committed to American made products, and the customer always coming first. I know you’ve heard the latter from more companies than any of us could ever count, but they honestly do, from my perspective anyway. I purchase their products for my cars and trucks and have always been more than satisfied with their quality. I am a real perfectionist and want only the best products in my vehicles, especially in my show cars.
The company was founded with the ideology of providing jobs, superior quality products and not on having profit as their first priority. The profit takes care of itself, as they focus on the “bigger picture”. Providing jobs, contributing to our economy and having processes that are friendly to our environment are ingrained in their corporate culture. They also source their products and materials in America. Environmental sustainability is another core value and it starts from efficiency and effectiveness in their manufacturing and continues through recycling unused raw materials.
Check their website (https://www.weathertech.com/) and learn more about their products and what it means to be Made in America. With the changing world we live in constantly evolving, it’s important that we remember to stay focused on our country and its economy.
Their products carry a Lifetime Limited Warranty, so you can be assured that your purchases will meet your expectations and will function as they were designed to.
I have worked with cars in one capacity, or another, most of my life. I have 2 cars I have restored, and show at car shows, as well as a few more I drive more regularly. I do my best to keep up with the latest in technology and all that is involved with the auto industry. I attend auto trade shows, read the latest information available, as well as attend car shows and host my own show.
