'Loud Music' Dispute Turns Violent In Half Moon Bay
Verbal spat led to threats, hand-slam in door, gun-waving, stand-off and arrest on the Peninsula, according to officials.

HALF MOON BAY, CA — After a fracas broke out last week over loud music at the Pelican Point RV Park in Half Moon Bay, a man was arrested after the complainant's hand allegedly was slammed in a door, threats flew, a gun was brandished and a brief standoff ensued, according to authorities.
Deputies were called Thursday at about 9:15 p.m. to the community, at 1001 Miramontes Point Road, when a park resident, James Edward Pappas III, of Gary, In., reportedly was asked by a neighbor to turn down his "loud music," the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office said.
"An argument ensued, and Pappas reportedly brandished a firearm, threatened to kill the victim and then slammed the victim’s hand in the trailer door, causing bruising and lacerations that required medical attention," officials said.

Deputies responded to the scene, and after a 45-minute stand-off with law enforcement, Pappas eventually left his trailer and surrendered, officials said. Recovered at the scene were a 9-mm handgun, with an extended, 17-round magazine, deputies said.
Pappas' wife and and 3-year-old daughter were inside the trailer, were uninjured and were not involved in the incident, deputies said.
