New Leaf Donates 2.9 Tons of Poultry & Customers Donate $17,051 to Food Bank

During the annual holiday food drive, held November 4 – December 31, New Leaf Community Markets’ customers donated $39,753 at the cash register to local food banks. New Leaf contributed some matching funds. $17,051 of the total was donated to the Second Harvest Food Bank of San Mateo and Santa Clara Counties, providing for 34,102 meals for local families in need.

In addition, New Leaf and Smart Chicken® donated 2,932 pounds of nutritious Smart Chicken to the Second Harvest Food Bank of San Mateo and Santa Clara Counties. For every ten pounds of Smart Chicken purchased at New Leaf during the month of November, one pound is donated to the food bank.
