HALF MOON BAY, CA — A 40-year-old man was arrested Wednesday afternoon on stolen-vehicle charges after San Mateo County Sheriff's deputies conducted a traffic stop with the driver and subsequently learned the truck was reported stolen from Monterey County, according to authorities.
While driving a 2017 GMC Sierra, David Leroy Dobras, listed as a transient in records, was stopped at approximately 12:26 p.m. by deputies on the 700 block of Sonora Avenue in Half Moon Bay, the department said.
"Anytime a car is pulled over it is customary to run a check of the license plate through the California Department of Motor Vehicles," the agency said. "When the deputy received information back from the DMV about the vehicle’s license plate, it was listed as stolen out of Sand City, CA."
