When is the First Day of School in Half Moon Bay?

Of course, the calendar just turned over to August and families are smack in the middle of enjoying summer vacations. 

But, back-to-school commercials hawking new clothes are already being shown on TV and that time of year is really just around the corner. 

So, even though you are most likely still heading to the beach and pool, soaking up those rays of summer, here are some important things to know when it comes to the Cabrillo Unified School District's 2013-14 calendar.

• First Day of School: Monday, Aug. 26
• Freshman Orientation: 9 a.m. to noon Aug. 16 at Half Moon Bay High School
• High School Registration: 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for 10-12 graders, Aug. 19-20 in the gym at HMBHS
• 6th Grade Orientation: 10 a.m. Aug. 22 at Cunha Intermediate School
• Cunha Student Registration: 8 a.m. to noon and 1-3 p.m. Aug. 22 and 23
• School Picture Day at HMBHS: Wednesday, Aug. 28
  
• El Granada Elementary Back To School Night: 6-9 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 29
• Back to School Night at Hatch Elementary: 6:45-7:50 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 29
• Football Scrimmage: 5-9:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 30; versus SHP, Mills, Mission HS
