Annual Hermosa Beach Holiday Tree Lighting Concert Moves to Sunday

The move was to accommodate more people who want to be a part of the event to kick off the holidays, organizers said.

HERMOSA BEACH, CA -- The annual Hermosa Beach Holiday Tree Lighting and Rock for Tots Toy Drive Charity Concert will move to Sunday this year from its usual Thursday evening, organizers said.

The move was to accommodate more people who want to be a part of the event to kick off the holidays, the Hermosa Beach Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Bureau said.

The event will be on Sunday, Dec. 4 from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. in downtown Hermosa Beach at Pier Plaza and The Strand.

The main-stage performances will be hosted by Jeremy Buck and Kevin Sousa. Performers include Max Volume, Pink Roach and Joe Cipolla, Jeremy Buck & The Bang, Barley and the Holiday All-Star Band.

The event is free but everyone is asked to donate a new toy for the Beach Cities Toy Drive. The drive benefits several South Bay charities that distribute gifts to families in need. Each toy should be unwrapped and worth $5 to $10.

Those who donated a toy will receive a free ride on the carousel on the plaza. There is also a raffle where people can win various prizes such as a free night in a hotel, a guitar, a bicycle and ski passes. Local nonprofits will also be selling hot chocolate, cider, popcorn, cookies and other holiday treats.

The Hermosa Beach Christmas tree lighting will take place at 6 p.m. with the arrival of Santa and Mrs. Claus.Children will be able to meet the Clauses for photos and tell Santa their wish list in the winter village.

For adults, there is the HBCCVB’s Jingle Mingle is at Killer Shrimp from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. For $10, customers can enjoy a drink, appetizers with a view of the Christmas tree.

Throughout the holiday season, from Thanksgiving to Christmas, parking in downtown Hermosa Beach will be free for two to three hours at silver meters.
