With lower COVID-19 infection rates and increased vaccination rates, the City will be shifting from a regular COVID-19 update to updates as needed. Rental Assistance Available from the State: With the COVID-19 eviction moratoriums drawing to a close on June 30, residential renters may visit the State’s website for information on rental assistance to help them pay past rents that will be coming due. Under this program, a landlord who rents to a lower income tenant may apply to receive 80 percent of rental debt incurred by that tenant from April 2020 through March 2021, if the remaining 20 percent is forgiven. Tenants may also apply if the landlord declines to participate but can only receive 25 percent. For assistance with rent due in April 2021 and after, lower income tenants can receive 25 percent of their monthly rent. Governor Newsom is now considering covering 100 percent of rental debt and simplifying the application process to remedy the slow disbursement of funds.

L.A. County Mask Requirements Change on Tuesday: On Tuesday, Los Angeles County will align with the State's masking guidance that reflects Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommendations and prevents transmission at higher risk settings. Masks will not be required for fully vaccinated individuals, except in the following settings where masks are required for everyone, regardless of vaccination status:
