City Of Hermosa Beach: Notice Of Prospect Avenue Construction Planned May 25-26, 2021

As part of the City of Hermosa Beach’s efforts to respond to community traffic safety concerns along the Prospect Corridor, the City has received a grant to test and evaluate different traffic safety improvements through a temporary demonstration project. The demonstration project will involve the temporary installation of traffic safety elements including new marked crosswalks, a mini traffic circle, and curb extensions to address speeding and pedestrian safety.

The installation of this project is scheduled to take place on:
- Tuesday May 25– between 14th and 15th Street on Prospect Avenue between 8 AM and 6 PM
- Wednesday May 26 – between 9th and 10th Street on Prospect Avenue between 8 AM and 6 PM
Prospect Avenue is expected to remain open to through traffic while construction is occurring. In the area of construction, traffic control will be in place to assist in safely directing vehicles. Residences in the immediate area of construction will be able to access driveways/garages throughout the day.

Once complete, the project will be installed for approximately three months and the community will be invited to provide feedback on the different elements. In addition to community feedback, the City will assess traffic volume and speed data as part of the evaluation of the demonstration project.
