HERMOSA BEACH, CA – Hermosa Beach fully reopened in-person services at City Hall today, as the L.A. County Department of Public Health and the State Department of Public Health ended most COVID-19 restrictions. The public can still access most City services by phone and online and are encouraged to continue to utilize these convenient options.Â

The appointment system the City established in May, when it initially resumed in-person services on an appointment-only basis, will continue to be available for a short period of time to schedule in-person meetings with City Staff.
L.A. County Department of Public Health announced last week that it would issue a modified Health Officer Order today to align with the State Department of Public Health’s guidelines on ending many of the COVID-19 restrictions. Among the changes, restaurants and retail businesses can fully reopen indoors and resume indoor entertainment. The Department also announced that most of the current COVID-19 protocols for operations will be retired, but workplace requirements imposed by Cal/OSHA will be in effect, including the continued use of face coverings regardless of vaccination status for all staff until further notice. Â
Masks continue to be required for unvaccinated people in indoor public settings and businesses. These include retail businesses, restaurants, theaters, family entertainment centers, meetings and state and local government offices serving the public. Face coverings aren’t required for fully vaccinated people under the modified order, except in settings where masks are required for everyone, regardless of vaccination status.
Businesses can require masks be worn by all people inside their facilities, and the City is continuing to require masks for all Staff and members of the public, whether they’re vaccinated or not, when they’re inside City Hall and City facilities to protect Staff and other members of the public accessing City services.  Face coverings are also required for all people, including those who are vaccinated, at mega-events, which draw large crowds, and in the following settings:
- On public transit, which includes airplanes, ships, ferries, trains, subways, buses, taxis and ride-shares, and in transportation hubs. This includes airport and bus terminals, marinas, train stations, seaports or other ports, subway stations or any other area that provides transportation;
- Indoors in K-12 schools, childcare facilities and other youth settings. Note: This may change as updated K-12 school guidance is forthcoming, pending updates for K-12 operational guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC);
- Healthcare settings, including long term care facilities;
- State and local correctional facilities and detention centers; and
- Homeless shelters, emergency shelters and cooling centers.
Hermosa Beach City Council and Commissions will resume in-person meetings later this Summer. The goal is to make these meetings accessible in person and via conferencing technology, so that the public can continue to participate virtually.Â
