“It was truly an honor and a privilege to have been sworn in as Hermosa Beach’s newest Councilmember last week, and I’m excited for this opportunity to serve our great beach City,” said Councilmember Jackson. “Thank you to everyone who played a part in making this happen. My family and I have been blown away by the amazing community support we’ve received, and we’re looking forward to a public ceremony and celebration when we resume in-person meetings. Thank you, Hermosa! We did it!”
Councilmember Jackson emerged the winner in a five-way race for the Council by receiving more than 35% of the 4,479 votes cast in the May 11 special election to fill the vacant Council seat. The L.A. County Registrar-Recorder Office certified the special election results on May 24.
“We congratulate all of the candidates for a race well run and Councilmember Jackson on his election. The Council looks forward to working with Ray,” said Hermosa Beach Mayor Justin Massey. “His demonstrated commitment to public service and history of leadership will be invaluable assets as we continue to work for the benefit of all of Hermosa.”
