Hermosa Beach Museum Honors Philanthropic Sandpipers
A new exhibit highlights the work of the Sandpipers, a group founded in 1931 to help South Bay families affected by the Great Depression.

HERMOSA BEACH, CA – A new exhibit at the Hermosa Beach Museum focuses on the work of The Sandpipers, a philanthropic group founded by seven Hermosa Beach women in 1931 to help those in the South Bay affected by the Great Depression.
The exhibit called "Sandpipers: Philanthropy Through the Decades," highlights the group's history and legacy "through archival treasures from the Sandpipers historic collection, such as original documents and photographs illustrating their years of philanthropic work," the Hermosa Beach Museum said.
The group was named after the busiest bird on the beach – decades later, the dream lives on through fundraising events to help the South Bay community, the museum said.
