Hermosa Beach Police Increase Enforcement For 4th Of July

"The Hermosa Beach Police Department is committed to ensuring your safety and security during the Fourth of July Holiday," HBPD said.

From The City of Hermosa Beach: Again this year, the City of Hermosa Beach Police Department is committed to ensuring your safety and security during the Fourth of July holiday. Enhanced police enforcement will begin at 10 a.m. on July 4 in Hermosa Beach.

Increased Enforcement of Laws Banning Public Intoxication, DUI, Underage Drinking and Drinking on the Beach July 4 Hermosa Beach Police Department personnel will be assigned throughout the City to address the annual influx of people celebrating the July 4 holiday in Hermosa Beach. Our efforts over the past six years have reduced incidents of disturbing the peace within our community, ensuring safe and memorable Independence Day celebrations in Hermosa Beach.

Officers will strictly enforce laws banning public intoxication, driving under the influence, underage drinking and drinking on the beach. Violators will be subject to arrest or citation, with a minimum fine of $500 plus court fees. All fireworks - including "safe and sane” fireworks - are illegal in Hermosa Beach, and their use is also subject to fines and confiscation. Please leave the fireworks to the professionals, who will be staging fireworks shows (https://www.southbayevents.com/4th-of-july-in-the-south-bay/) in Redondo Beach, Torrance, El Segundo and Marina del Rey on July 4.

Increased Enforcement of Noise and Underage Drinking Laws for July 4 Parties Please help us protect the public's safety and the rights of all the City's property owners and residents during the holiday. If you host a party at your home, please keep noise levels low and contain the party to your property: The party must not extend beyond your property line. If you are a property owner and rent your home to others, please urge them to take the same precautions because you will ultimately be held responsible for their actions.

At parties where underage drinking occurs, the City's “Social Host Ordinance” holds either the parents accountable or whomever is the responsible person at the residence that hosts the party. The ordinance imposes fines of $2,500 for a first offense ticket, $5,000 for a second offense and $10,000 for a third offense.

Sizable Fines Invoked for Owners of Properties Requiring More than One Police Response July 4 Throughout the July 4 holiday, Hermosa Beach Police will invoke a City code that could place a sizable financial assessment against property owners – whether or not they are present at the time the police arrive. If police receive complaints about noise or other problems that result in more than one response to the property, they will charge the property owner for the cost of that or successive police emergency responses.

Thank You for Helping Us Ensure a safe and Happy Fourth of July We appreciate you taking the time to review this letter and thank you in advance for your support in helping us make this another safe and happy Fourth of July in Hermosa Beach. Best wishes to you and your family on this upcoming Independence Day.
