HERMOSA BEACH, CA — A 32-year-old man pleaded no contest Wednesday to assaulting a man wearing an ironic "Make America Great Again" hat written in Russian at a bar in Hermosa Beach last year, the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office announced.

David Delgado, of Winnetka, pleaded no contest to one felony count of assault by means of force likely to produce great bodily injury, Deputy District Attorney Giselle Chang said. Delgado's sentencing is scheduled on May 28. He faces four years in state prison as a result of the plea.

On Sept. 2, 2019, Delgado allegedly approached a man in a restroom at a Hermosa Beach bar and asked him what was written on the hat he was wearing. The victim was wearing a red hat that said "Make America Great Again" in Russian, the prosecutor said.
