Mexican 'Surf Lodge' Opening at Former Cafe Boogaloo Location in Hermosa Beach
The new restaurant is owned by South Bay restaurateur Jed Sanford, who also owns Abigail in Hermosa Beach.
A new restaurant called DÃa de Campo is expected to open in Hermosa Beach later this month at the former location of Cafe Boogaloo at 1238 Hermosa Ave.Â
Advertised as a Mexican "modern surf lodge," the new restaurant has been written about recently by both the Los Angeles Times and EaterLA.Â
DÃa de Campo is owned by South Bay restaurateur Jed Sanford, who also owns Abigail in Hermosa Beach, Little Sister in Manhattan Beach and WildCraft pizzeria in Culver City, according to the Times.Â
Cafe Boogaloo closed in 2013 after coming under scrutiny of the Hermosa Beach City Council, which reduced its operating hours after city staff highlighted "a number and pattern of serious incidents and behavior" at Cafe Boogaloo that included incidents of underage drinking, arrests for public intoxication, violations of its conditional use permit and an undercover investigation by police that found employees were allegedly selling narcotics.
