Playground Re-Opening Protocols In Hermosa Beach

It is the responsibility of parents and caregivers to monitor your children while at our playgrounds and ensure protocols are followed.

COVID-19 continues to pose a severe risk to communities and requires all people in California to follow necessary precautions to reduce the spread of COVID-19. This guidance provides direction on usage of outdoor playgrounds and outdoor recreational facilities, to support a safe environment for children and families. It is the responsibility of parents and caregivers to monitor your children while at our playgrounds and ensure protocols are followed.

The playgrounds in Hermosa Beach re-opened for community use on Thursday December 10, 2020. This includes:

  • Valley Park
  • Seaview Park
  • Fort Lots-Of-Fun
  • South Park (some portions will remain closed)

Beach swings and exercise equipment along the greenbelt will also re-open for community use following these protocols.

All visitors to playgrounds assume the associated risks and are responsible for following all playground protocols. Please be advised that playgrounds are not cleaned between uses.

  • Face Coverings Required - Masks must be worn at playgrounds and parks by everyone age 2 or older.
  • Practice Social Distancing - Maintain six feet apart at all times. Children must be monitored by an adult.
  • No Food or Drink - Avoid eating and drinking to ensure masks are on at all times.
  • Wash Hands Frequently - Bring hand sanitizer and use or wash hands before and after playground use.
  • Not Feeling Well? Stay Home - Avoid playgrounds if you have flu-like symptoms or underlying conditions.
  • Limit Play Time to 30 Minutes - When others are waiting, limit your playground time to 30 minutes or less.

Adults are responsible for ensuring children follow these protocols and repeated failure to comply with the playground protocols could result in re-closure of playgrounds in Hermosa Beach.
