HERMOSA BEACH, CA — Stephen Bishop, fresh off performances at Sundance Film Festival, select states in the Midwest, and string of dates in Florida, has added two Southern California shows to his already-packed 2019 schedule.

Bishop performs April 7 at The Coach House in San Juan Capistrano, CA, and on April 14 at Saint Rocke in Hermosa Beach, CA.

Four decades into his incredible career, multi-platinum-selling singer-songwriter Stephen Bishop, whose timeless hits include “On and On,” “Save it for a Rainy Day” and “Everybody Needs Love,” and who wrote the Oscar-nominated song “Separate Lives,” is eyeing 2019 as perhaps his busiest year yet.

“I want this tour to remind people of my songs, not just my hits, but some of my other ones as well. In my lifetime I’ve written something like 650 songs.

"This tour gives me chance to talk about my upcoming projects, which I’m excited about,” said Bishop. “I have a new album coming out this year titled 'We’ll Talk About It Later In The Car.'

According to Bishop, some of the songs from the new album on the set lists for this tour.

"This album is one of my best and I can’t wait for everyone to hear it,” he said.

In addition to a new album, Bishop is planning a documentary film and an autobiography or release this year. He says, “I should be exhausted from all the work I’ve been doing. Truth is, I’m more energized than ever. If you’re a fan of mine, you’re going to get a whole lot of me. And if you’re not, well, what can I say? I’m not going away anytime soon!”

Bishop says that his new album, "We’ll Talk About it Later in the Car," contains “songs that should have been hits 40 years ago.”

The record originally started as a demo project of tracks he wrote at the beginning of his career, but as he kept recording the idea of turning it into a proper album took shape. “There’s a little bit of country, pop, and a few tracks that are more broken-hearted love songs.”

It’s a line that also figures in "We’ll Talk About it Later in the Car: The Untold Story of Stephen Bishop," a documentary film that the singer produced in partnership with his
manager, Liz Kamlet. Featuring movie and TV clips, the documentary explores some of Bishop’s best-love songs and the impact he’s had on fans and peers, including many notable music stars and players he’s worked with along the way – Dionne Warwick, Jimmy Webb, bassist Leland Sklar, guitarist Steve Lukather and Richard Marx, among others.

But that’s just the first half. "We’ll Talk About it Later in the Car: The Untold Story of Stephen Bishop" also details the singer’s 11th tour of the Philippines.

Bishop has been making regular concert appearances in the Southeast Asian country since 1980, and over the years he’s seen his popularity in cities like Manila grow from cult status to something close to Beatlemania.

“It’s become my second home,” he says. “The people of the Philippines go crazy for songs like ‘It Might Be You,’ which I recorded for the movie Tootsie. It’s the most remarkable thing, and so that’s sort of the ‘untold’ part of my story.”

Complementing the doc will Bishop’s autobiography, On and Off, which the singer promises will be “wild and crazy, like the life I’ve led. I’ve been working on the book for a while, and I’ve got a blitzkrieg of material.”
