Summer Concerts Return To Hermosa Beach In August
The live musical performances will be free and feature high-caliber artists in August 2019 and 2020, the City press release said.
From Hermosa Beach City Council:The Hermosa Beach City Council agreed Tuesday night to award a contract for production and management of the popular Hermosa Beach Summer Concerts to talent management and event production company 5B Artists + Media. The company is committed to providing live musical performances that will be free to the public and feature high-caliber artists in August 2019 and 2020, with an option to extend to a third year.
City staff determined 5B Artists + Media was the most qualified of the event production companies that responded to the City’s Request for Proposals (RFP) to produce the annual series of musical performances that attract up to 10,000 to the sand south of the Hermosa Beach Pier.
In selecting 5B Artists + Media, the City staff cited the company’s extensive experience, strong desire to partner with local businesses and ensure the concert series remain a community event for all ages. In addition, the City staff cited 5B Artists + Media’s demonstrated ability to secure sponsorships. The company has offices in Culver City, CA, the United Kingdom and New York. It has over 10 years of experience producing concerts and events in six different countries with capacities ranging from 2,000 to 50,000.
In its proposal, 5B Artists + Media said it would rely on sponsorships – rather than City funds – to pay for the costs of providing the concert series, including security, portable restrooms and other services the City had provided in the past at no charge to the previous event production company. Under the agreement with 5B Artists + Media, the City would only have some indirect costs, such as staff time to plan and implement the concert series and parking for artists and the production team.
“We are so pleased to have such an experienced production company to continue this great tradition of live music on the beach,” said Hermosa Beach Mayor Stacey Armato. “We look forward to creating another great summer concert series with our new partners, 5B Artists + Media, a company with global reach that is committed to using its extensive connections to bring some great artists to Hermosa Beach to entertain our community.”
In addition to the Sunday concerts, 5B Artists + Media said it is willing to provide additional events on alternate days throughout the weekends, including movies, live performances and other activities that will use the stage it sets up for the concerts. The details of these events have not yet been determined.
