Off-Duty LAPD Officer Killed In Lincoln Heights Shooting
Two people suffered gunshot wounds in the overnight shooting, including the LAPD cop who died from his injuries.

LINCOLN HEIGHTS, CA — An off-duty Los Angeles police officer was shot and killed in an overnight shooting in the Lincoln Heights area, according to the LAPD.
According to police, just before 1 a.m. on Saturday, an LAPD motor officer was flagged down for reports of a shooting in the area of Avenue 26 and Humboldt Street. The officer found two people who had gunshot wounds.
Police confirmed that the off-duty officer died as a result of the shooting.

The cop was identified as Officer Juan Diaz.
"Officer Diaz was a dedicated public servant and Angeleno that put service to others above all else," the LAPD said in a statement. "The void his loss leaves within our ranks will not soon be filled."

According to news reports, the second victim is expected to survive.
