Farmers' Market, Food Truck Feast, Southwest Museum Tour

1. Highland Park Old L.A. Certified Farmers' Market & Outdoor Fair

Highland Park's weekly Farmers' Market is scheduled on Tuesday, Oct. 29, from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Avenue 57 and Marmion Way, adjacent to the Metro Gold Line. This is a special kind of market: Proceeds go to the North Figueroa Association, a nonprofit group that will use the money for the security, cleanliness and improvement of the North Fig corridor and community. And this month, for the whole of October, Mardy's Munchies, the Montecito Heights bakery, will be donating 10 percent of all its proceeds from sales at the farmers' market to Aldama Elementary School. Questions? 2. Food Truck Feast

Highland Park’s weekly food truck feast unfolds at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 29, in the parking lot in front of the former Figueroa Produce building, located at 6312 N. Figueroa St. Food trucks from across Los Angeles are expected to be there until 9 p.m. Stay tuned for details.

3. ‘Behind the Scenes’ Southwest Museum Tour

The El Plan Del Southwest Museum Task Force, a local voluntary organization dedicated to connecting individuals in an effort to find ways for the long-term sustainability of the Southwest Museum, is organizing two tours of the museum on Saturday, Nov. 2. The first tour, at 1 p.m., will be bilingual and is limited to 50 people. The second tour, at 2 p.m., will be in English and is also limited to 50 people. 4. Highland Park Heritage Trust Community Preservation Awards

The Highland Park Heritage Trust is seeking nominations for its 2013-14 Community Preservation Awards in recognition of the preservation of Arroyo communities. Categories for the awards include everything from buildings, murals and gardens to individuals and organizational efforts that have made a difference in preserving the Arroyo.
