Fire Scorches Debs Regional Park Hillside In Highland Park
The Los Angeles Fire Department dropped water on the blaze from a helicopter and sent crews to hike uphill to extinguish the rest.
HIGHLAND PARK, CA — Firefighters battled a small brush fire in Highland Park Friday afternoon.
The blaze was less than a one-quarter-acre, but the steep terrain forced the fire department to call in a Los Angeles Fire Department helicopter water drop before crews could hike in to extinguish the remaining flames.
The fire broke out shortly before 1 p.m. Friday in the 4700 block of Griffin Ave inside Debs Regional Park, said Los Angeles fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey.
