1. Cleland Avenue Bicentennial Park Bootcamp

Get fit—while the kids are at school once again. A do-able but no-nonsense bootcamp by certified personal trainers for mommys and daddys is held from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Cleland Avenue Bicentennial Park, located at 4800 Cleland Ave., 90042. 2. Military academies information session

Congressman Xavier Becerra is scheduled to host an information session about military service academies this coming Thursday, Sept. 5, for local students and their families who would like to get a handle on the application process for military academies. Guest speakers will include representatives from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, U.S. Naval Academy, U.S. Air Force Academy and U.S. Merchant Marines Academy.

3. Historic Highland Park Neighborhood Council meeting

The board of the Historic Highland Park Neighborhood Council is scheduled to meet on Thursday, Sept. 5, starting at 7 p.m. at the Senior Citizens Center, 6153 N. Figueroa St. The meeting is open to the public.
