Give Avenue 64 Coalition a Boost at Pasadena Town Hall
A group of Garvanza and Pasadena residents is pushing for increased traffic safety following the June death of a bicyclist.

1. Join Avenue 64 Coalition members in San Rafael Town Hall
In the aftermath of the tragic death of a bicyclist on Avenue 64 in June near the Garvanza-Pasadena border, a number of concerned residents formed a group called the Avenue 64 Coalition in an effort to lobby for changes on the street that would help reduce traffic speeds. The coalition has won the formal approval of the Historic Highland Park Neighborhood Council and has forged a relationship with Pasadena Councilmember Steve Madison, who is hosting a town hall tonight for the San Rafael neighborhood of Pasadena adjacent to Garvanza. The meeting is largely aimed at discussing traffic safety along the section of Avenue 64 that runs through both San Rafael and the outskirts of Garvanza in L.A. Special guests include the Pasadena Police Department's area commander, the department's head of traffic enforcement, Pasadena's director of transportation, and a city engineer. (See attached flyer.) The town hall will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at La Casita Del Arroyo, 177 S. Arroyo Blvd., Pasadena 91105. Park in the La Casita lot or on the street. Questions? Call (626) 744-4739 or go to www.cityofpasadena.net. The Avenue 64 Coalition has also launched a petition drive to install traffic calming structures along Avenue 64. Click here to sign the petition—and refer it to your friends. Your e-signature will be delivered to 11 elected and appointed officials in local government.
