HHPNC Meeting, Kiwanis to Discuss Veterans' Day Parade

1. The Historic Highland Park Neighborhood Council is scheduled to hold its monthly board meeting tonight, Thursday, Nov. 7, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Highland Park Adult Senior Citizen Center, located at 6152 N. Figueroa St. The meeting is open to the public and Highland Park residents are particularly encouraged to attend.

2. Kiwanis meet to discuss NELA Veterans' Day Parade

The Kiwanis Club of Highland Park is scheduled to hold its weekly board meeting today, Thursday, Nov. 7, to discuss last-minute details of the 8th Annual NELA Veterans' Day Parade and Ceremony. If you or a friend wish to entry the parade, you are encouraged to attend. The Kiwanis will meet as usual at Milo Terrace Baptist Church Community Room, 754 N. Avenue 50, from noon to 1:30 p.m. The meeting is free; lunch is $5 at the door. As always, attendees are encouraged to bring their ideas for a better Highland Park.

3. Audubon Center at Debs Park 10th-Year Anniversary

Mark your calendars: The Audubon Center at Debs Park, located at 4700 North Griffin Ave., 90031, is scheduled to celebrate 10 years of connecting people to nature in Los Angeles on Sunday, Nov. 10., from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Expect good music, great food and plenty of fun. Those who do so by Saturday, Nov. 9, will be eligible for a raffle whose prizes include a private bird walk for up to 10 people led by an Audubon Center naturalist, a free rental of the Audubon Center at Debs Park B-Day Party area, and a walk along the Los Angeles River with Councilmember Mitch O’Farrell.
