Highland Park-Mount Washington Property Crime Spree Continues Well Past New Year

January is traditionally a slow month for business, but not for property crimes in Highland Park and Mount Washington.

During the last five days of 2013, when holiday shopping and celebrations were in full swing, the 90042 and 90065 zip codes recorded as many as 17 property crimes, according to CrimeMapping.com, the national database of crime statistics to which the Los Angeles Police Department contributes real-time information. (Patch reported 14 crimes earlier this month, noting that the LAPD Northeast Division’s Facebook page identified Highland Park and East Hollywood as the two crime hotspots in entire Northeast Los Angeles.)

The trend continues. With 16 burglaries, 10 stolen vehicles, nine thefts and two robberies, 37 property crimes were committed in Mount Washington and the Highland Park area, according to CrimeMapping.com. Here's the breakdown—addresses refer to the block where crimes occurred:
