Who Are Highland Park-Mount Washington's People of the Year?

There are so many leading lights in Highland Park and Mount Washington, so why focus on just one?

Last year, Highland Park-Mount Washington Patch attempted to single out the neighborhoods' Person of the Year.

The award went to Aldama Elementary School dual-language teacher Angelina Saenz, and deservedly so. You can read more Saenz's work here, but suffice it to say that she is working very hard to make a positive impact on our community.

However, I can't help but feel like last year's effort to single out a community superstar, unfortunately, turned into something like a competition. That's not what I wanted.

So this year, I'm asking everyone to submit their person of the year, and I'll make an effort to profile all of them. Instead of a contest, consider this an opportunity to tell Patch where to shine its end-of-the-year spotlight.

Tell me your nominations in the comments section below or at david.fonseca@patch.com.
