Marmion Way Hummingbird House Makeover Complete

Marmion Way's once colorful Hummingbird House is now on the market, though its vibrant exterior has been replaced with a beige coat of paint, the Eastsider LA reports.

The home went into foreclosure in November, 2011 less than a year after the mural was painted by the Tijuana-based Border Council of Arts and Culture (COFAC).

COFAC--thanks to a $10,000 grant from the National Association of Arts and Culture--planned and painted the mural on the Marmion Way home in the spring of 2011 as part of the American Home Intervention Project. 

The concept for the mural was designed in collaboration with the home's former owners by artist Daniel Ruiz--an effort to highlight their strong Nicaraguan heritage.

After the family moved out, the house became a target for vandals. It was heavily tagged and the back lot was filled with debris and garbage.

According to the The Eastsider LA, the investors who purchased the home have opted for a more austere look. 

According to Redfin.com, the 1,400 square foot home at 5427 Marmion Way is now selling for $439,000.
